A Poem for Waiting Parents

May you be safe and sleep soundly, through the night.
May you be safe as you wake in the morning's light.
May you feel our love from so far away.
May it comfort you and protect you throughout each day.
I will pray for you my little one:
Safe from harm,
Until the child of my heart,
becomes the child in my arms.

I just loved this. It was so true to what we feel right now. We hope our little man is warm and well cared for. We also hope immigration hurries up so we can get the process completed. It is so hard to not be able to book a hotel and plane tickets and go to China when we are ready. 

Immigration application

Today we mailed the application for US citizenship for Austin. It will take a couple of weeks to process then we will get an appointment for fingerprints. We will wait a few more weeks after fingerprinting to get an approval. Once we get an approval form we will be ready to send all of our documents aka whole life story to China. Any time after that we will know who our son is. Homeland security please hurry up and process our application. We have a little boy in China waiting for citizenship.

Homestudy Home Visit is Complete

Julie came to see our house this evening. The girls took her around to see the house and yard. The girls were very animated telling her about our family. We finished answering questions and turning in paperwork for all aspects of our life. Julie said by the end of the week or the first of next she will have our study written up and sent on to our placing agency. She is also going to send us our application for immigration to send in. Immigration may very well be the longest wait we still have to face. We will send in the application with a check. Once they read the application they will send us a new letter that gives us an appointment to go get fingerprinted for homeland security. The wait is several weeks to months to get a fingerprint appt and an approval. That will be the last piece of the puzzle to send to China. The whole packet of documents is a dossier. Dossier has everything from the homestudy, birth certificates, marriage license, financial reports, to the fingerprints and background checks. The rules are so many for China. all documents including birth certificates must be less than 6 months old at the time we send to China. All these documents must be notorized, sent to the county and state, then sent to Washington DC to the embassy to be certified. Please keep prayers coming as this process is so long and can be disheartened.

Happy Valentine's Day and Physical Day

We started at the doctor's office this morning as a couple to complete our physical that shows we are healthy enough to adopt. We had multiple blood tests, 2 shots, an EKG, and a physical exam to fit the requirement for China. After all that fun, we finally got to celebrate a little couple time for lunch at Logan's. As soon as lunch was over we had more adoption papers to complete. We went to the police station to have new background checks. Once we had our notorized official background checks we got to go the girl's school for Valentine's parties. It was fun to be with Grace and Zoe and celebrate with them at school. Nanny got to go to KK's party so she had someone to join her as well. Tonight we finish all the things we need to have ready for the home visit tomorrow. This is a busy week but getting lots of things marked off the list. We are so close to having paperwork complete. Hooray!!!

Preparation for Chinese New Year

The girls are busy making paper lanterns tonight. Zoe learned how at school and she is teaching the others. They are so cute. New Year starts Thursday and we will order Chinese food and have a small celebration at home. Gracie wants to invite friends over and make it a big party. Trying to explain we only need a small celebration is not easy. I am very happy the girls are interested in learning Chinese culture.

Second Meeting with social worker

Today we had individual interviews with the social worker. This is required to complete an adoption. We only have one more meeting and then our home study will be completed. It feels so good to be close to  having that big part done. We want to hurry the process along so we can hold our little man for the first time. There are so many roadblocks to overcome. Immigration is a big roadblock we will soon tackle. Immigration can take months to get through. More orphans would get forever families if the roadblocks were not so numerous.

On the China program list

We have waited a long time to hear about our application to the China Program. The intake social worker was out sick for over a week and the applications got backed up. We were finally notified today that we are accepted to adopt a little boy from China. We were again told that since we are hoping for a boy our wait will be very short. She reminded us that once a month a list comes out from China with available children for adoption. The China team here in the USA will review the list and match families to those children waiting for forever families. We cannot wait to see the face of our son God has chosen for us. We hope the orphanage is taking good care of him. This is more real now to know we are officially a China family. Please continue prayers for us. Guess there was a reason I felt the need to nest.
